Sferra Giza 45 Sheets: The World's Most Luxurious Bedding

Sferra Giza 45 Sateen Sheets Bedding Fig Linens and Home Best Sheets Most Luxurious Sheets

Sophie I. Edwards |

Sferra's Giza 45 Sheets and bedding have a cult following for their superior materials, ultra-soft feel, and relatively painless cleaning process. Even skeptics of luxury bedding admit that "Sferra’s Giza 45 Sateen sheets are the silkiest, softest, and most luxurious set we’ve slept on. Ever" (Jackie Reeve of the New York Times Wirecutter in an  article on Sferra and Frette Sheets). What makes this gorgeous high-end sheeting so special? Let's explore.

What is Giza 45 Cotton?

Giza 45 Cotton Linens are made of the most high-end, fine cotton in the world, Giza Cotton. The Giza 45 cotton is grown and harvested in Egypt in the Nile River Valley. This produces the highest-grade extra-long-staple cotton. What does extra-long-staple cotton mean? Long staple cotton has individual fibers that can be up to two inches long. This length produces superior softness, strength, and durability. In other words, luxury linens produced with this high-grade extra-long-staple cotton are less likely to fray, wrinkle, fade, or pill than sheeting made with shorter staple cotton. Due to its rarity, Giza 45 cotton, "The Queen of Egyptian Cotton" was historically used only for the finest of men's shirts. Sferra President Paul Hooker became the first to use Giza 45 cotton for bed linens

After being produced in Egypt, Sferra Giza 45 bedding is woven in Italy by master craftspeople. Each artisan on the team of sewers specializes in their own particular detail to guarantee the utmost care at each step of production. Giza 45 sheets are crafted perfectly to the millimeter with minute, precise stitches, structural mitered corners, and elevated lacy detail. Sferra does not use any chemical finishes in the ultimate steps of production. The incomparable material combined with the adept craftsmanship with which the bedding is created produces a bespoke bed sheet unlike any other. The quality of Giza 45 bedding is something you can both see and feel. The luxury Egyptian cotton comes in every bedding piece imaginable: King and Queen Duvets, Fitted and Flat Sheets, Pillow Shams, and Pillowcases.

What styles does Sferra's Giza 45 Bedding Come In?

As expected, the best sheets come in the best styles. Sferra's Giza 45 100% Cotton Sheets are available in either a lustrous sateen or a crisp percale. They are also available in both ivory and white. The classic Giza 45 sheeting has a simple, tiny windowpane pattern along the seams. Giza 45 luxury sheet sets and duvets also come in other elevated patterns from the delicate Sferra Giza 45 Lace Collection to the statement Sferra Giza 45 Medallion Collection (see both below!). Whether you prefer a minimalist style or something with a bit more pattern, Sferra's Giza 45 Collection ensures all your bedding needs are met in dreamy softness and unspeakable luxury. How do I care for and wash my Sferra Giza 45 bedding?

First things first, Fig Linens and Home recommend always pre-washing your linens before sleeping in them. Though Sferra does not use any chemicals in the final stages of production, this step will help guarantee the softest, most comfortable feel. Despite their luxury status, Sferra Giza 45 sheets have relatively straightforward washing instructions. You can machine wash your Giza 45 sheets warm on a gentle cycle. Washing your Egyptian cotton sheets requires a gentle detergent to best preserve the material. Fig Linens recommends using a detergent formulated especially for luxury materials like Signature Detergent by The Laundress. The Laundress's Signature Detergent is aimed specifically at caring for your clothing and sheets over time with special ingredients to whiten, brighten, and preserve color. Bonus points for the fresh scent. It is also important to wash your Sferra Giza 45 Bedding with like colors and to avoid using bleach and/or fabric softener. When it's time to dry, tumble dry your Giza 45 Cotton Sheets on low heat and remove them while still damp. If you would like to iron your Egyptian cotton sheets, you can steam iron the sheets on a "cotton" setting. Following these instructions will keep your bedsheets, duvets, pillowcases, and shams looking luxurious for years to come.
